Terminator Salvation (2009)

The Terminator film saga is by far one of my favorite installments of science fiction. For me, its right up there with Star Wars. When I first heard of the film a little over a year ago I was skeptical because it was the first feature length Terminator to take place in the future we have all dreaded. But when trailers started to arrive and I got a good look at the imagery, it looked very promising. And It did not dissappoint, though fans and non-fans might disagree with me I found it entertaining.

The thing that the movie really had going for it was the scenery. The terrifying look at the post apoclyptic world is wonderfully done. The film did have it fair share of cliches moment, similar to Clash. On a side note, the last 3 films ive watched, (Public Enemies - Christian Bale) (Clash - Sam Worthington) (Terminator - Both) just thought it was funny. Terminator come from Director McG, relatively unknown outside of the viewers of the TV show Chuck of which he is the Executive Producer and even Directed the Pilot.

As for the overall plot, trailers gave away too much of the film. If the trailers had not let you know that Sam Worthington's character, Marcus, was actually a Terminator, the revelation on film would have been epic. That and Cliched moments are my only true gripes with the film. Oh and the digitalized version of naked Arnie that attacks John Connor.

I dont have much issue with the acting except for a few cliched sayings, as i've said a few times already, and just the random screaming that is unnesscery. The do give top billing to Christian Bale because hes playing the role of John Connor, Leader of the Resistance, he is the main character to the overall saga. But as for this film, it really more about Worthington's Marcus Wright. The film chronicles his life before Judgement day, his struggles after it and his quest to save the Father of Connor, Kyle Reese (Anton Yelchin).

I've heard rumors about a possible 5th installment in the Terminator franchise and I will gladly see it because McG did a good job on this and if the rumors are true he will be tapped for #5. As to the subject of or time frame of #5 are currently unknown. But to get your fix of everything Terminator, the recently cancelled TV show was in my opinion, fantastic, and Dark Horse Comics has recently launched the Terminator 2029 comic book series.

Terminator Salvation recieves 7.5 "T-1000's"...out of 10
