Clash of the Titans (2010)

Before the Friday of release I had very high expectations going into this film. It had everything I enjoy life, It had potential to crack my top 10. But come the Friday of release I read a few reviews and saw some ratings then I was hesitant towards it. And the critics were right this movie was a bomb. I was extremely let down and dissappointed.

For starters this film had one of the worst screenplays I've ever had the misfortune of seeing. I dont know if the writers honestly thought they were being clever when they wrote this script but it was pretty bad. The writers tried to add in some humor to lighten the mood but it came out poorly. Every attempted joke came out awful, it was cheesy and the only people laughing were the characters, no one in the crowd so much a chuckled, except for my friend and I, but were laughing at how bad it was. Almost every saying was a bad cliched phrase used in every other adventure film and with very little emotion.

The plot didn't exactly stay true to the original but what the did makes sense, I may not like it but it makes sense from the standpoint of trying to help people understand it. The old story was of Perseus versus Calibos or Man versus Man and Perseus was on a quest to win the affection of Andromeda. The new story sets up Perseus versus Hades or man versus God and Perseus is on a quest to avenge the loss of his family whom Hades killed. It makes sense to attract viewers because unless they saw the original no ones who Calibos is, almost everyone knows of Hades.

The acting was rather abismal, Sam Worthington a.k.a. the next big action hero, delivers an unemotional and not believeable role of Perseus. Ralph Fiennes plays seemingly out of breath Hades and never seems to get angry for being the Greek equal of Satan. And the man of the hour Liam Neeson and his overly shiny suit of armor was rather dissappoint. He did not make a good Zeus, the God of Gods, Liam just wasn't as epic as I had hoped. I thought ever word out of his mouth would be epic but it wasn't. Liam has the revamped version of the A-Team coming out this spring, I'd expect some less than stellar acting. As a fellow reviewer noted "its funny how the last time Fiennes and Neeson appeared on film together was in one of the best films every made."

Overall the film was a huge disappointment and does not do justice to my favorite era of history. Im going to say skip this film or if you really want to see it regardless, download it then delete it after you watch it because it not worth the space.

The 2010 version of Clash of the Titans recieves 4 "Releasing of the Krakens"...out of 10
